DESCRIPTION:The City of Ames and the ISU Office of Sustainability host “Rummage RAMPage” every summer. This community-wide, second-hand sale keeps reusable items out of the waste stream. Rummage RAMPage repurposes useable items left on curbs during move out and lease changeovers, and keeps them out of the landfill. It works like this: People donate unwanted, usable items to Rummage RAMPage. Non-profit agencies send volunteers to run the sale. Anyone can purchase items, which are priced to sell! The agencies share in any profit. The United Way of Story County serves as the financial distributor of proceeds.\nThe event is open to anyone to donate or shop.\nMany leases in Ames end the last week in July, and renters who are moving may discard items that are still useable. This is when the Ames Resource Recovery Plant (RRP) often sees an influx of couches, wooden furniture, clothing, and housewares. At the same time, new students and renters moving in are often in need of furniture and household essentials.\nRummage RAMPage pairs unwanted items with those seeking inexpensive options to furnish their home.\nRummage RAMPage 2025 will be Friday, July 25, to Saturday, Aug. 2.\n\nFriday, July 25 – Drop-off only; noon to 6 p.m.\nSaturday, July 26 – Sales and Drop-off, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.\nSunday, July 27 – Sales and Drop-off, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.\nMonday, July 28 to Friday, Aug. 1 – Sales and Drop-off; noon to 6 p.m.\nSaturday, Aug. 2 – No Drop-off and Half-price Sales, 8 a.m. to noon\n\n
