SUMMARY:2026 Ames Regional Economic Alliance Annual Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for the Ames Regional Economic Alliance Annual Luncheon to celebrate the end of 2026, featuring renowned keynote speaker Carey Lohrenz! A former U.S. Navy fighter pilot and the Navy’s first female F-14 Tomcat pilot, Carey will share powerful insights on leadership, perseverance, and performing under pressure, inspiring attendees to turn challenges into opportunities and lead with confidence.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent is 11:00am-1:30pm and includes lunch. If you cannot stay for the entire event or cannot stay for lunch, a grab and go lunch will be available.\nSeating is available as individual seats or in a group of 10. Purchase a group of 10 tickets and you will receive guaranteed group seating in the auditorium and a reserved table at lunch.\nEvent pricing will increase on November 1, 2026 so sign up today!  We look forward to having you join us!\n \nAbout the Speaker:\nCarey Lohrenz knows what it takes to win in one of the highest‑pressure environments imaginable: the cockpit of an F‑14 Tomcat flying at Mach 2. As one of the first female F‑14 fighter pilots in the U.S. Navy, she flew combat‑mission‑ready operations worldwide from aircraft carriers—one of the most demanding operational environments on earth.\nA scholar-practitioner, Carey translates lessons from high-stakes military operations into practical leadership frameworks used by organizations around the world.\nToday Carey is a Wall Street Journal and USA TODAY bestselling author, keynote speaker, and high-stakes leadership expert whose work explores decision-making, trust, and high performance in complex environments. The crucible of carrier aviation shaped her understanding of leadership when uncertainty, risk, and pressure collide—and what it takes to lead when the stakes are highest.\nIn her keynotes, Carey takes audiences inside the demanding world of aircraft carrier operations, where young teams operate complex systems in relentlessly changing conditions. Success there—and in business—depends on trust, disciplined execution, clear communication, and a focus on what matters most when pressure is highest.\nThrough her leadership frameworks—including the Span of Control, Prepare, Perform, Prevail, and the principles of Fearless Leadership—Carey equips leaders with strategies to manage risk, focus on what matters most, communicate clearly, and lead teams that execute with confidence in uncertain environments.\nCarey has worked with many of the world’s leading organizations, including Cisco, Deloitte, Verizon, AT&T, State Farm, Kimberly-Clark, TEVA, Dell, and Underwriters Laboratories. Frequently requested by name by Fortune 100 companies, she connects with audiences at every level while delivering insights that drive measurable results.\nA graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a former varsity rower who trained at the pre-Olympic level, Carey completed the U.S. Navy’s Aviation Officer Candidate School before beginning her career as a naval aviator. She is currently completing her doctorate, where her research examines leadership legitimacy, trust, communication, and decision-making in complex environments.\n \n2026 Annual Luncheon Sponsors\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presenting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bronze Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bronze Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bronze Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Beverage Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

Our speaker will be Travis Eby of MH Eby, Inc.\nSpace is limited so register today! Prices will increase September 11, 2026. We look forward to our event in October!\n \nSchedule at Glance\n7:30am– Registration and Breakfast open\n7:50am– Program Begins\n9:00am– Program Ends\n \nAbout the speaker\nTravis Eby is a third generation owner and current president of M.H. Eby, Inc., a manufacturer of trailers and truck bodies.  After graduating from Otterbein University in Westerville, OH, in 1994, Travis joined the family business working in sales and marketing.  It was during his formative sales career in the late 90’s when Eby began dreaming of opening the company’s own location in the robust livestock trailer market of Iowa.  That dream came true in 2005 with the opening of Eby’s sales, service and manufacturing operation in Story City.  Today, Story City is Eby’s largest facility in both sales and headcount.  Eby employs 600 people with locations in 8 states and has expanded its offerings into non-agricultural industries such as construction, rail road, and commercial vocational truck fleets.\nOutside of business Travis enjoys non-profit board work in trade associations and faith-based organizations that support food and housing insecurity, education and youth programs.   As a part-time rock guitar player, Travis’s band, Shaky C, will release its first EP in April of 2026 on Spotify and other streaming platforms, with sales benefiting PD Avengers, a global Parkinson’s Disease advocacy non-profit.\nTravis and his wife Jacquie reside in Lancaster, PA and have two adult daughters.\n \nEvent Sponsors\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presenting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Gold Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Gold Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n SilverSponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

Through candid storytelling and sharp insight, Paul will share lessons learned from navigating high-pressure environments, building resilience, leading through uncertainty, and redefining success beyond the scoreboard.\nThis event offers a unique opportunity Leadership Ames alumni to reconnect with classmates, expand your professional network, and gain fresh perspectives on leadership, adaptability, and purpose – from someone who has experienced leadership at every level.\nWhether you’re leading a team, building a business, or looking to grow personally and professionally, this conversation promises inspiration, humor, and practical takeaways you can apply immediately.\nSchedule of events:\n6:00pm – Doors open, cash bar open\n6:30pm – Dinner buffet open\n7:00pm – Welcome and presentation from Paul Shirley\n8:30pm – Event to conclude\nSpace is limited, sign up today!\nTo learn more about Leadership Ames, please visit this page ( https://amesalliance.com/events-programs/ ) on our website. \n\nAbout the speaker: Paul Shirley\nPaul Shirley played for 17 professional basketball teams in a nine-year career, including stops in Spain, Greece, Russia, and with three teams in the NBA: the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, and Atlanta Hawks. He’s the author of six books, including Can I Keep My Jersey?, Stories I Tell On Dates, The Process is the Product, and The Art of Focused Work. He created a TV pilot for Fox based on his life as a vagabond professional basketball player.\nPaul’s the founder of The Process, a workspace that helps creatives, entrepreneurs, and independent workers build systems so they can manage distractions and do focused work on meaningful projects.\nIn his talks, Paul combines the elements of humor and vulnerability that helped him win the Story Smash! storytelling competition at the Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles. He’s spoken at colleges, at conferences, for business groups, and at book launches as far away as Spain. His speaking superpower is his ability to turn intimidating concepts (managing distractions, doing focused work, dealing with failure) into digestible takeaways that leave audiences feeling connected with him and each other.\n\nEvent sponsors:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presenting Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Gold Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Silver Sponsor\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
