AREA Interns 2025: Kick Off Event – Speed Networking
The AREA Intern Program is a summer series designed to help interns and college students connect with local business leaders while exploring the opportunities the Ames region has to offer. By immersing interns and college students in a variety of professional development experiences, we hope to inspire them to consider staying in the AREA as they begin their careers. Thanks to our Workforce Sponsors, events are free to attend, but registration is required. This program was previously known as “See Yourself In Ames.”
The program begins with an exciting Speed Networking and Mentorship Program Launch event. This fast-paced networking session pairs interns (mentees) with young professionals (mentors) in an effort to build meaningful, lasting connections. In a friendly, informal setting, mentors share valuable career insights, professional advice, and personal experiences to help guide interns as they navigate their careers. This event also marks the beginning of the mentorship program, where interns will have the chance to develop one-on-one relationships with local young professionals, gaining insight into specific industries and career paths. It’s an excellent opportunity to expand their network and build the foundation for long-term mentorship. To successfully complete the mentorship component of the AREA YP Intern Series, mentees are required to have two meetings with their mentor before the end of the series on July 31st.
