The Ames Chamber of Commerce, Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC), and partner organizations will be celebrating National Economic Development Week from May 6 – 10, 2024 to showcase the contributions of positive economic development and ongoing economic development projects in our communities.
“Economic Development Week is a hallmark for our organization as we pride ourselves on being a driving force of economic development for our region.” said Dan Culhane, President and CEO of the Ames Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission. “While this week is intended to shine light on the work we do, we believe it is paramount to focus on all of our great partners, that collectively, make this possible.”
Over the past month leading into the week-long celebration, our organization worked with local city governments to pass proclamations recognizing National Economic Development Week. Those communities included Ames, Boone, Cambridge, Collins, Colo, Gilbert, Huxley, Kelley, Madrid, Maxwell, McCallsburg, Nevada, Ogden, Roland, Slater, Story City and Zearing.
The week-long celebration will be featured on our social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and include content on the following topics: Business Attraction, Workforce, Entrepreneurship, Business Retention & Expansion, and Community Development.
Now in its ninth year, National Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers, in 2016 to recognize the unique role that economic development has in creating vibrant communities with strong economies.
