The Ames Municipal Band concert, conducted by Michael Golemo, will begin at 8 p.m. Simon Estes will be narrating throughout the concert. The concert is free, and attendees are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the park. In the event of severe weather, City Council Night at the Bandshell will be rescheduled.
The Ames Municipal Band is celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout 2024. During City Council Night, the City of Ames will unveil a sign sharing the history of the Ames Municipal Band.
The band will present family-friendly, hour-long concerts every Thursday at 8 p.m. in Bandshell Park in June and July. Each week the band will perform a different concert featuring popular music, light classical, hymns, marches and music from Broadway and films. Each concert will have a vocal soloist and at times, special selections, instrumental soloists, and guest conductors to help celebrate this historic anniversary.
