Huxley businesses gathered for the annual Business Appreciation Breakfast hosted by the City of Huxley, Huxley Development Corporation, and the Ames Regional Economic Alliance this week where they heard details on a grant program to support new as well as expanding businesses in Huxley.
These grant funds can be used to support façade improvements, building or land acquisition, capital improvements, job creation or training, site development, accessibility improvement, or utility upgrades. Other items supporting a business expansion may be considered.
Up to $30,000 is available per business and a dollar-for-dollar match is required to apply for the funds. The City Council has approved up to $120,000 each year in funding for the next 5 years to support this initiative.
Mayor Dave Kuhn explains “As elected officials we are first and foremost committed to supporting our existing local businesses. We welcome the addition of new businesses. This new program supports both efforts.”
Interested businesses need to complete an application and submit required supporting documents to the City of Huxley. Technical support will be provided by the Ames Regional Economic Alliance team who supports the City of Huxley in their economic development efforts. All grant funds are subject to availability as authorized by, and at the sole discretion of, the City. Applications are available at City Hall or by email at brenda@amesalliance.com.
